Boise is a unique place. The long, winding Greenbelt. The tree-lined streets. The spacious areas and parks we all enjoy. The unique character of neighborhoods from the Bench, to the North End, to Columbia Village and everywhere in between. Unfortunately, some city officials want to completely change Boise forever.
Efforts are underway to adopt a massive change to Boise’s land use and zoning ordinances. Under the codename “Blueprint Boise,” the city would mandate higher-density business and apartment complexes that transform our quiet neighborhoods by putting apartment complexes and high-rises right up against single-family homes.
The mandate would persist even when those developments would be out of place, not desired by longtime residents, and not in keeping with the character of existing neighborhoods.
If these changes are adopted, the Boise we know and love will be gone forever, and Idaho’s capital city will be unrecognizable. Is this the Boise we want for our future? Sign the petition and let City Hall know that Blueprint Boise needs to go back to the drawing board.
